Your Poetic Pick - Rebirth . So this poem is inspired by this quote I came across but the talented and inspirational J.K. Rowling (@official_jkrowling). “Rock bottom became the solid foundation on which I rebuilt my life.” . Sometimes we have to lose it all to realize we were chasing the wrong thing, or wonder if we lost anything that really matters. I hit a plateau (I never say rock bottom because you never know how far you can fall) in my journey a few years ago. It was hard but it pushed me to chase a passion I had forgotten (poetry); work in a field that I never would have and love now (Health and public policy); meet people I never would have (my super amazing collegues, and you all on Instagram); and opened up so many opportunities. . I tried to figure out who I was and who I wanted to be. A lot of my realization was that I was living for others expectations of me and not mine of myself. Thanks to @nerdsaremyfave for editing. . Your Poetic Pick - Travel . The first of 2 outstanding ones. Do you know I wrote this the week it was due but was not ready to share it? The poem wasn't complete and ready. Now, thanks to some supportive editing from my friend Wendy, I feel like I am 90% there. . Why am I sharing it when I don't feel 100% about it? I am learning to let go to realize that things don't always have to be perfect or complete. Sometimes things, especially poems can be works in progress and that's okay. . Travel may change, or it may stay this way forgotten, until one day I re-read it in the distant future and decide I love it as it, change it up, or pack it away again. . . . . . Blame it on the super moon of the minutes I spend in traffic but today was a thoughtful day. The majority of it was negative emotions that kept me on a roller coaster all day. I embraced as much as I could reminding myself that bad is just as worthy as good. To feel one is to embrace both. Still I hate the thoughts that silence leaves me with because I know they are true and honest.

Your Poetic Pick - Small Pleasures . I love the little things about love. The way just seeing someone can brighten the darkest of days. It's not the the grand gestures, but the small little things. I have mentioned before that I watch Korean dramas, and there is this line that almost all dramas have. Someone will ask one of the leads, why they love the other person and the lead will say simply - "because s/he is x." ❤️It makes my heart melt the idea that a person does not love you for all these reasons but because you are a unique combination of things that make you, well you. There is no one else like you and you don't need to check off a list to be loved. . . As someone who is opening my heart this year, these words always remind me that I don't need to have everything checked off in order to feel loved. As someone who needs everything to be perfectly lined up before I do anything (except my poetry 🤭) this is a pretty hard lesson for me to learn. Working on it though 🤗. . . It’s a snow day in Canada - Toronto is getting 20 cms of snow mixed with ice. I have shoved the driveway for the 3rd time and will most likely have to do it another 4 times before this storm stops. All this means is it is a cold, slippery, and my back hurts. However, when we get this much snow, and I want to curse at it, I remind myself - Snow is water and water is life. . Heavy snow means less chance of a drought this year, and we can all appreciate that. . p.s.
