339/2017: Nephew

A short little acrostic
Just to say how
I remember, you thought
That I would spend the year
Hiding behind acrostics.

Please, my dear nephew,
Remember, I told you
Always try something new
So you don’t remain stagnant
And always keep learning.
Do you dare to follow my footsteps?

Seeing that it’s your birthday, and
Unconditionally, you are loved,
Kindness and compassion your best qualities,
Uncompromisingly you give and protect,
Making sure your treasure those you love
And so I end with a simple
Reminder, acrostics aren’t always an easy way out.

AN: So it is my nephew’s 21st birthday today and I am really proud of the young man that he is becoming. It has been my blessing and privileged to be a part of his life and watch him grow and I look forward to seeing him continue on in his journey.

Day 340: Enigma (Ajith)

Twenty wishes to manage all your contradictions,
like you winning at Risk, is still just a fiction.
Grown from golden arches to golden boy,
you are still a kid who is fun to annoy.
Don’t worry; we will let you keep your grand delusions.

AN: For my nephew, Ajith on the occasion of his 20th Birthday!

I met him when he was two, and his aunt became my sister-in-law. He was obsessed with McDonald’s as a kid, if he saw the golden arches, it was game over. So nowadays, I get my revenge on him in other ways – ways that are fun for me, as an aunt, and traumatizing for him as a teenager (not anymore I guess). Lesson here – Always be kind to your family.

It has been a real pleasure to watch him grow into a talented, sweet and smart young adult.I look forward to seeing how much further and farther he goes 🙂
