52/2017: Greedy

I don’t want your days and nights,
let the sun and the moon claim them,
Instead, I only ask to be
the very air in your lungs,
living and dying
in every moment you exhale.

AN: I haven’t posted for two days, and it made me consider what I wanted to do now that the 2016 challenge was over – I have been on a bit of auto-pilot with the poems – just in that I am trying to challenge myself to grow, learn and expand my horizons. I will be making some changes to the blog.

48/2017: Travel Wishes

For every step, you leave in the sand,
I hope you carry the breath of the land,
in the deepest part of your heart.

For every hand, you embrace in warmth,
I wish that you feel the vigorous and steady,
beat of their heart across your palm.

For every smile you give and receive,
I pray that you see the strength and will,
that guided each corner of the mouth in welcome.

For every place, you leave,
I hope you understand that it remains,
a part of the map of you.

AN: I have a group of friends heading off to Thailand, want to wish them a safe and wonderful trip. When I was stuck in my head yesterday, she told me to write about what I wished out of my trip and traveling. So, I thought, well what do I wish for her and them 🙂

I hope they have an excellent time and safe travels with lots of love, laughter, and adventure.

36/2017: Worlds of Words

There are so many beautiful words in the world,
but you only give me the ones that show your ugly fear.

There are so many powerful words in the world,
but you only speak the ones that show your weakness.

There are so many kind words in the world,
but you only allow the ones that demean to escape your lips.

There are so many loving words in the world,
but you only surround yourself in the ones that breed hate.

There are so many words in the worlds,
maybe it is time I stopped listening to yours.
