17/2017: My True Love

I have missed your warm embrace,
How far we have been apart is a disgrace,
the softness in you let me drop my head,
made me think, thankful words can be left unsaid,
Oh dear pillow, I can’t wait to kiss your face!

Day 208: How I Met You…Jimmy

A stolen glance and nervous smile,
Shaky hellos, through which you beguile.

“Tell me about yourself?” you ask,
And my weak heart did bask,

In the glow of  eyes so attentive,
that they totally missed the motive.

Pen and paper did align,
on a slip of credit to be signed,

Until I was stuck looking for  eyes so blue,
in a totally unaffordable pair of Jimmy Choos.

Day 170: Blogging

I started this journey, unsure of what I would find,
Unbeknownst to me, it unlocked my mind.

Through the keyboard, I met kindred souls,
Who had stories to tell and shared the same goal.

Through this encouragement, I tried different voices
Finding meaning through various word choices.

So thank you for challenging me to start,
The fun act of writing My Poetic Heart!

AN: My Poetic Heart was started beacuse of a challenge issued by my best friend Sandra, who also issued today’s poem them challenge. She told me to write a poem about blogging, so here it is. Best friend’s are those people who always challenge you to be a better version of yourself.

Hope you like it Sandra.

Day 161: Friendship in Rhyme (Wendy)

She loves prose in rhyme,
my best partner in crime.

A world traveller,
an intellectual wanderer,
she challenges every notion
questioning your blind devotion.

An unexpected friendship did arise,
in gilded halls meant to make us wise.
Thirteen years later, still going strong,
even though we can both be a bit, headstrong.

Through the perils and the pitfalls,
all of the crazy late night calls,
a powerful bond formed,
until our lives were transformed.

Remember that we shall always remain sisters,
even when age and wine make us cougars.
Let the laughter stay in our hearts,
so the smile is there, even when we part.

Thus this is my birthday gift to you,
for all your hopes and wishes to come true.

AN: For my best friend, Wendy, who celebrates her birthday today.

Day 153: Rumi Said (Light)

Oh sweetie if the light is entering my body,
then let the light burn the pages,
until the golden letters are all
that are left.

Remind me that
I am a dwarf sun set free,
blazing so bright,
that you would have to shield your eyes,
to not lose yourself in the wonder of all I am.
