61/2017: (De)Construction

Time taught me
the value of walls
love taught me
the value of a hammer.

48/2017: Travel Wishes

For every step, you leave in the sand,
I hope you carry the breath of the land,
in the deepest part of your heart.

For every hand, you embrace in warmth,
I wish that you feel the vigorous and steady,
beat of their heart across your palm.

For every smile you give and receive,
I pray that you see the strength and will,
that guided each corner of the mouth in welcome.

For every place, you leave,
I hope you understand that it remains,
a part of the map of you.

AN: I have a group of friends heading off to Thailand, want to wish them a safe and wonderful trip. When I was stuck in my head yesterday, she told me to write about what I wished out of my trip and traveling. So, I thought, well what do I wish for her and them 🙂

I hope they have an excellent time and safe travels with lots of love, laughter, and adventure.

Day 233: Why am I afraid to Own my Face?

Why am I afraid to own my face
To own the scars
To see the full image
Instead of presenting glimpses
Of eyes
Lips
Ears
Hands
As if the absence of
The whole
Will make the sums
Greater
As if a part of me
Is all of me.
