I fell in love with this wall, but didn’t quite know what I wanted to say here. However, I started thinking about what it means to be free (from your past and your limits). The phrases I chose to fill in the blanks revolved around being a fighter and being aware. Fiercely Undone and Consciously Unrooted reflect the process of my own unchaining. . Wordless . I am contemplating all the things I say to myself when I am wordless; the thoughts that run through my head. I struggle with my craft all the time. What should I say? How should I say it? On social media, who do I want to be? Am I ready to share the parts that are imperfect and broken? Though I guess my poems tell that side of me too. . Can I tell you a secret? I hate the sound of my voice. It's nasally and high. I can give you a long story about why my voice is the way it is and why I have issues with it - but maybe that’s a story for another day. . But the thing is, as I grow as a poet, I find myself having to confront this insecurity (?). The more I perform and share videos on social media, the more I encounter the sound of my voice - and it’s such a bizarre process. Happy Victoria Day!!! . I enjoy long weekends for the time I get to reconnect with my friends and family; and of course the extra day off work to recover - though I never seem to rest that day 😋.
